格鲁吉亚FIFA排名第75，欧足联第36，是本届欧洲杯排名最低的球队。

有球迷发现格鲁吉亚的世界排名仅领先国足13名，但格鲁吉亚的实力不容小觑，去年FIFA排名仅比国足高1位的格鲁吉亚，在友谊赛中8-0狂胜泰国，不过当时泰国队有近10名主力未随队参赛。而随后的世预赛中国足与泰国的两次交手，比分分别为2-1和1-1。
