2024欧洲杯揭幕战，东道主德国队5-1大胜苏格兰。21岁的中场维尔茨打进首球，成为德国队史最年轻的欧洲杯进球球员。

维尔茨上赛季在勒沃库森表现也很出色，代表球队出场49次，贡献18球20助攻。此前据《图片报》等多家德媒报道，皇马有意明年以1.5亿欧的价格签下维尔茨。西媒《马卡报》更是直接称维尔茨和皇马之间已经有在2025年加盟的承诺。
